WHAT ARE LIFE COMMUNITIES?
Life Communities are our primary ministry to and with the students of the University of Arkansas. Each Life Community consists of 10-15 students who meet once a week to pray, read the Scriptures, develop spiritual disciplines and share life together.
Life Communities are also given opportunities to be involved in local service work, once a semester mission-trips, Deeper Life retreats, larger worship gatherings, and other special events that occur during the semester.
The DNA of Life Communities includes three things: Discovering the truth of Christ through reading the Scripture and letting the Scripture read us, loving one another in nurturing community, and involving ourselves in God’s mission in the world by being examples and instruments of God’s goodness on the campus and in God’s world.
WHY BE IN A LIFE COMMUNITY?
This is about covenant friendship. God never calls us to walk alone. Our’s is an on-going journey with Jesus, toward Jesus, and into Jesus. The way is narrow, including straight paths and challenging obstacles. We are all at different “mile-markers” on the road, but we are all on the same map, and so we grow and experience more of the Trinity when we walk together, loving one another as Christ loves us. God’s desire is for us to become an authentic community, a body of people who together experience and demonstrate the person of Christ and his Kingdom within the culture and world. For us, our primary world is the campus. Each Life Community seeks to be a community of Christ like this. There is no greater witness to Jesus than a group of people committed to love God and to love one another.
WHEN DO LIFE COMMUNITIES MEET?
Different Life Communities meet at different times on different nights of the week throughout the semester. With 12 Life Communities, it is easy to find one that fits your schedule.
