Omar Rikabi is a Texas native who was born to a Muslim father from Iraq and a Christian mother from the United States. Born in Houston, he grew up in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Omar graduated with a B.A. in English with a minor in history from Texas A&M University, and a M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Omar served as Associate Youth Pastor at the church he grew up in (First United Methodist Carrollton) from 2002 until 2004. While a student at Asbury he served as an intern to the Dean of the Chapel, including working with the chapel’s “Worship Design Team.” He joined the UA Wesley staff after graduation in August, 2007, and became the Executive Director in July, 2008.

Omar met his wife, Jennifer, while she was also a student at Asbury (where she earned her M.A. in counseling). They have two daughters, Sadie and Norah, and a rescue dog named Beau.
